Project Overview:

The Solar LED lamp project allowed the Design Center to develop a product that incorporated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels produced in the Memphis facility. We were able to develop a standalone light fixture that could be set up without having to wire them to the electricity grid. The final light, completed in 2010, paired a 128W PV module with LED boards manufactured by Sharp Japan and powered by batteries.

My Contribution:

This was a team project. I was the lead industrial designer and worked on initial concept development. I worked cross functionally with engineers, domestic suppliers, and overseas manufacturers.
